The University of Ulster offers a course in Food and Nutrition with a Diploma in Professional Practice (DPP) or Diploma in International Academic Studies (DIAS). During this course students specialise in Dietetics, Food and Nutrition or Human Nutrition. All students take an extended placement during either their third or fourth year depending on the pathway chosen.

These courses are taught by the Biomedical Sciences Research Institute. This department has a particular research focus on gene-nutrient interactions, specifically those which are associated with degenerative conditions.
